The information below is available for providers and their vendors who are interested in submitting HIPAA EDI transactions to HMSA for electronic claims submission, claims status, eligibility and referrals/pre-authorizations.
Electronic Trading Partner Agreement Between HMSA and Providers
The Electronic Trading Partner Agreement (TPA) must be signed and returned to HMSA before transactions can be submitted. The TPA includes a Business Associate Authorization Form (BAAF) for Providers to designate Business Associates acting on their behalf (e.g., vendors, clearinghouses).
HMSA Trading Partner Manual and Companion Documents
The Electronic Trading Partner Agreement provisions include instructions and requirements from the HMSA Trading Partner Manual and Companion Guides. These manuals include transmittal procedures and data communication specifications. HMSA’s companion documents to the ASC X12N Implementation Guides adopted for use under HIPAA are meant to provide HMSA specific instructions where required or allowed in the Implementation Guides.
