HMSA’s Plan for QUEST Integration Members provides a comprehensive smoking cessation program through a combined counseling and medications approach. Services are available state-wide and are limited to two quit attempts per benefit year for all members who smoke.
Services include:
- Counseling
- Up to four in-person counseling sessions per quit attempt by the following licensed providers trained on smoking cessation and functioning within their scope of practice:
- Physician
- Osteopath
- Psychologist
- Clinical social worker in behavioral health
- Advanced practice registered nurse
- Marriage family therapist
- Mental health counselor
- Emphasis on two effective components of counseling: practical counseling (problem-solving/skills training) and social support
- Up to five proactive outbound phone counseling sessions
- Unlimited inbound support calls
- Up to four in-person counseling sessions per quit attempt by the following licensed providers trained on smoking cessation and functioning within their scope of practice:
- Medications
- Nicotine and non-nicotine agents as recommended in the most current Public Health Service guidelines as effective for smoking cessation, and which are included in the QUEST Integration Drug Formulary
