This procedure is covered in treating arteriosclerotic obstructions in the lower extremities.

Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty to treat stenotic lesions of a single coronary artery is covered as an alternative to coronary bypass surgery for patients with:

• intractable angina inadequately controlled with maximal medical therapy
• objective evidence of myocardial ischemia
• normal ventricular function

Radiological services and introduction of needles or intracatheters are integral parts of the procedures and are paid as part of the surgical procedure. No separate payment is made.
