Hospital pass days are not covered for patients in acute settings who request a leave of absence. Skilled nursing facility patients and patients who are wait-listed for a skilled nursing facility may be allowed a two- to four-hour “pass” under extenuating circumstances. Payment to the facility will not be affected by these passes because of the short duration of the leave. However, cases are subject to concurrent or post-payment review.
