Recovery Letter

When an Overpayment by HMSA is made on a previously processed claim, the adjustment is usually shown on a Report to Provider.

However, if no payments are due the provider, HMSA will issue a Recovery Letter that provides information about the adjustment and requests that a refund be made. To obtain information about a specific overpayment shown on a recovery letter you have received, refer to the contact and tracking information provided in the letter.

If you believe that our determination is incorrect, please refer to the contact and tracking information provided in the letter or contact HMSA's Recovery Unit at the phone number listed on the letter or send a written response explaining the reason you believe our determination to be incorrect.
