2012 Genetic Testing Codes (CPT 81200, 81205 – 81408)
For all HMSA Private Business plans, HMSA will follow Medicare policy and deny claims containing only new genetic testing codes (81200, 81205 – 81408) without corresponding Pathology/Laboratory code.
Effective for services dates on/after January 1, 2012, when billing HMSA for genetic tests, submit the new genetic test code (81200, 81205 – 81408) in conjunction with the applicable Pathology / Laboratory code for tests completed to ensure proper reimbursement.
