Billing for Multi-channel Blood Chemistry Tests - Medicare Advantage Plans

CPT includes codes for multi-channel blood chemistry tests and individual blood chemistry tests. For Medicare-based plans such as HMSA Akamai Advantage®, either the panel codes or the individual test codes can be billed. Only codes from the current edition of CPT should be used. Other codes, such as HCPCS (for an exception, see the "Stat Charges" subsection) or ATP, should not be billed. Reporting of the billed codes is explained in the subsection "Processing and Reporting of Multi-channel Blood Chemistry Tests."
