When external cardioversion (CPT 92960) is performed by an anesthesiologist or CRNA during the course of surgery, HMSA will evaluate the charges for both the anesthesia services and the cardioversion, and will pay plan benefits based on the higher eligible charge.
HMSA will not pay for both cardioversion (CPT 92960) and anesthesia services (CPT codes 00100 - 01999) by the same anesthesiologist or CRNA for the same patient on the same date of service.
